PACKAGE FOR CHRISTMAS
Get to know our story
The idea for the Package for Christmas
goes back to 2014.
It was Joanna Błaszczyk's way to express gratitude for the successful treatment of
her son. Friends, and friends of friends, came together to support her
cause. Thanks to their collective efforts, she was able to prepare over
40 packages, which were distributed to the children at the Temporary Stay Unit
of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Clinic in Krakow.
GET TO KNOW OUR STORY
In 2023, three new Pediatric Oncology Departments participated in the event. More than 800 children wrote letters to Santa. The level of interest this year surpassed our wildest expectations, and for the first time, we ran out of letters.
The drive
is gaining momentum

The ninth edition of the Package for Christmas campaign in 2023 brought another
record in the number of fulfilled wishes.
Thanks to the support of our Santas,
we were able to fulfill 860 children's dreams!
We raised an impressive amount of 24,300 PLN through our paczka fundraiser.
The funds were used to fulfill the wishes of children who did not find their personal Santa.
The gifts reached children undergoing treatment in pediatric oncology wards in the following
cities: Białystok, Bydgoszcz (2), Chorzów, Gdańsk, Katowice, Kielce, Kraków, Lublin, Łódź,
Olsztyn, Rzeszów, Szczecin, Warsaw (3), Zabrze, and Zielona Góra.
The Package for Christmas in 2022 brought lots of joy to all and once again surprised us.
We supported 15 out of 18 Pediatric Oncology Departments in Poland.
Thanks to the generosity of our Santas, we fulfilled the dreams outlined in
800 letters, with a total value of about 240,000 PLN.
We additionally collected 28,000 PLN, which we allocated for purchasing gifts for
those children whose letters did not find their Santas.
The gifts reached children in departments in cities such as:
Kraków, Warsaw, Rzeszów, Lublin, Katowice, Chorzów, Zabrze, Lublin, Kielce, Łódź, Gdańsk,
Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Olsztyn, and Poznań.
The year 2021 in the Package for Christmas proved that even in the challenging times of
the pandemic, we can achieve more and bring joy to those in need.
Although we still faced challenges related to the pandemic, we supported
15 out of 18 Pediatric Oncology Departments in Poland. This is undoubtedly
a tremendous achievement!
In fulfilling dreams, we delivered gifts worth 200,000 PLN, thereby
fulfilling over 600 Christmas wishes.
Additionally, thanks to the generosity of donors, we collected 20,000 PLN,
which allowed for additional support for the children.
The gifts reached young patients in departments in:
Kraków, Warsaw, Rzeszów, Lublin, Katowice, Chorzów, Zabrze, Lublin, Kielce, Łódź, Gdańsk,
Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, and also children from Olsztyn and Poznań.
The year 2020 was exceptional for our Package for Christmas due to the prevailing
pandemic. Despite this, we did not give up and adapted to the new conditions.
Due to restrictions, we were unable to visit the hospital wards in person. However, we
introduced changes that allowed children to submit their letters online. We do like
challenges!
In these difficult circumstances, our Santas did not disappoint. We fulfilled around
300 wishes and collected 15,000 PLN.
The gifts reached young patients in departments in:
Kraków, Rzeszów, Katowice, Zabrze, Chorzów, and
Institute of Mother and Child in Warsaw.
From the collected funds, we purchased a multifunction device with a supply of paper and
warm blankets for the department in Rzeszów.
The year 2019 brought significant changes to the nature of our Package for Christmas,
which was a public collection numbered 2019/5183/KS.
We introduced a novelty: the packages were now sent directly by the donors to the children.
This allowed for even closer contact and greater involvement.
We managed to deliver 177 gifts in response to letters written by children
from pediatric oncology departments in Krakow and Rzeszow.
We organized a photo session for children from the Oncology and Hematology Department in
Krakow. The obtained photos were used to create a calendar for the year 2020. The income
from its sale and other fundraising items with our logo supported our collection on
zrzutka.pl, thanks to which we raised 16,336 PLN.
The collected gifts reached children in the Oncological Outpatient Clinic, the Oncology and
Hematology Department, and the Neurosurgery Department of the University Children's Hospital
in Krakow. Additionally, we sent gifts to the Pediatric Oncology Department in Rzeszow.
The Package for Christmas event in 2018 was a public fundraiser (number 2018/4436/KS).
We managed to fulfill 374 GIFTS in response to letters written by children from
pediatric oncology departments in the following cities:
Krakow, IMID in Warsaw, Rzeszow, Zabrze, and Katowice.
Like in previous years, we succeeded in fulfilling many departmental needs. Additionally,
about 150 packages were prepared and distributed in clinics associated with the
participating oncology departments, as well as among children who were in the departments on
the day the gifts were presented, but who had not written letters.
Thanks to the fundraising campaign on zrzutka.pl, we managed to collect approximately
47,000 PLN, which was used to fulfill unmet wishes, and the remaining amount was
distributed among all the departments involved in the event.
The 2017 Package for Christmas was a public fundraiser (number 2017/4299/KS).
We managed to prepare 280 GIFTS in response to letters written by children from both
the Krakow and Rzeszow Pediatric Oncology Departments, as well as the
Krakow Department of Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation and Neurosurgery.
Additionally, we fulfilled another 5 letters that were not published in our system
but reached us after the campaign's conclusion.
Moreover, we prepared over 40 packages with items for the departments, such as
kettles, microwaves, thermometers, blood pressure monitors, toasters, baby feeding chairs,
mattresses, heaters, hair dryers, night lamps, plastic trays, document drawers, and many
others.
Furthermore, we prepared over 150 packages that were distributed at the
Hematological-Oncological Clinic in Krakow during the campaign's finale and other
departments.
Thanks to the fundraising on the zrzutka.pl portal and the support of the
Sursum Corda Association, we managed to purchase
62 foldable chairs for the parents of children staying at the Krakow Hospital in
Prokocim, valued at approximately 120,000 PLN.
High interest in the campaign leads to the creation of dedicated IT system for handling
letter reservations and delivering presents.
Packages are received by children from seven departments. We manage to prepare over
300 packages (200 in response to letters to Santa Claus and about 100 packages for
children who did not write letters). Presents are delivered by two teams of Santas.
About 1800 people expressed interest in the campaign on Facebook, with around 800
individuals, schools, and several companies participating.
The campaign also includes meeting the internal needs of the departments. We prepare over
120 packages for the departments. These include diapers, wipes, bedding,
thermometers, stethoscopes, blood pressure monitors, a refrigerator for parents, furniture
for the department, and other items.
A transportation company supports us in moving the packages from where they were packed to
the hospital.
In 2015, the event saw significantly more participation, with a total of 382 individuals, several primary schools, and a few companies involved. On Facebook, approximately 500 people showed interest in the campaign. The idea of fulfilling specific wishes of children was introduced. We successfully fulfilled 80 letters written to Santa and prepared 40 additional packages for children who did not write a letter. The gifts were distributed to children from both the Day and Inpatient Wards of Hematology and Oncology at the University Children's Hospital in Krakow-Prokocim.
